Breast cancer support group in Kenosha, WI: Circle of Hope

It’s been a while since my last post. I didn’t have a lot going on this week so there really wasn’t too much to report. The side effects of my chemotherapy treatments come and go. I had a day or two that I didn’t feel so good. It seems like early on I had a frequent upset stomach and experienced a lot of indigestion. Then, gradually, I felt much better. I guess that’s how it goes, you start feeling better right before the next treatment.

Last Friday I was visited by my friend Heather, a former co-worker. She dropped off a generous gift from the whole team at Stericyle. I was really surprised and thought it was a nice and thoughtful thing for them to do.

One thing I did do this week was finally finish a novel that I have been reading for some time now, Cider House Rules by John Irving. What a great book, I loved it! This is the first John Irving that I have read. Now I want to read all of his books.

Thursday night I met with the breast cancer support group in Kenosha, Circle of Hope. This was my second time attending. I was so happy that I went. I met a couple of women that weren’t at the last meeting. One woman is going through the same treatment that I am. I believe she is one treatment ahead of me. She was diagnosed only a week or so after me. So it will be helpful to have each other to go through this together.

I think getting together with women who have been through or are battling breast cancer can really make you feel that you are not alone. So if there are any women out there looking for a support group in the Kenosha/Racine area, please know that you are welcome to join us.

Glad you’ve found a good support group. I bet it makes all the difference to you. When we were in WW you were my support. Thank you for that. Have a good week. Prayers and blessings.

Chris, I always drew a lot of strength and support from you as well. I feel that’s the power of a like minded group getting together.

Thanks for your love and support.

I don’t know what looks better – that Coq au Vin or you as a blonde! Like I said before, you can rock any color or style! Yeah, John Irving is pretty cool. You may want to check out ‘A Widow for One Year’ or ‘A Prayer for Owen Meany’ next.

LOL…. I feel kind of funny with the blonde hair, not sure I will wear that out anywhere.

I have A Prayer for Owen Meany. Mark read it ages ago. The only problem is it’s an old time book. I had Cider House Rules on my Kindle and it was great not toting around the whole 560 page book with me. I will give it a try if only my arms hold out. :)

    Hi Amy,

The dish you made looked GREAT! I have something to share with you (and everyone else here). Check out Chef Pepin’s Debone Chicken Galantine Ballotine. I just LOVE watching him debone the chicken. I’ve watched this like 5 times!! I mean, it’s an art. I am going to make this tonight for dinner. I thought about you and Mark the first time I saw him make this recipe. If I do well, you’ll have to come over for dinner. I am making his stuffing recipe with spinach, bread and Gruyere cheese – a little different from the one he shows here. I hope you enjoy this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAekQ5fzfGM

And here is another video for you that I hope makes you laugh. I love haunted houses. I don’t have time to get to one this year. I saw this and laughed so hard my stomach hurt. Maybe it’s just me, but I cried watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXZ6K21wvZM#t=10 Maria if you’re reading this, I KNOW you will laugh too!!

Oh, I have a message for Mark. Mark your video footage/editing is great!! I love how you went back in time with Amy on this last one. Very good work!

Looking forward to seeing you both this week.

    Love,
    Karen

OMG!!! First of all I have been HOT for Jacques Pepin for years and seeing this demonstration of deboning a chicken is one of the reasons why. He is so masterful and is truly an artist. What a beautiful man! Thank you so much for sharing this video with us. Have a wonderful dinner tonight, it looks great!!!!

As for the other video I can’t stop laughing. It has been years since I went to a haunted house and I think the only thing I kept doing was laugh and scream my whole way through. Amy and Andy were both adorable.

      Love you too.
