First week of chemotherapy: Wig selection

Last week, besides beginning chemotherapy, I had my appointment for my wig fitting at Lucia’s Wigs with The Salon in Kenosha. Melissa Simon is the wig specialist there and she is such a kind and compassionate person. She is very knowledgeable about dealing with cancer patients and wigs. Melissa had me try on a few, and then took out a couple of catalogs to look through. I ended up picking one out of catalogs.

As you can see in the video above, I had a couple of visits this week from my sisters and brother in law. I also had a chance to run up to the hospital on my own. I had to go back for a follow up so they could see how my port was doing. Everything is doing fine. It is taking a little adjusting to but really isn’t as bad as some people have said.

The wig I ordered came in this week so I went down to Kenosha on Friday to pick it up. Melissa was so nice to let me take home two of them so Mark and I could decide on which one we liked best. Both are in the video. What do you think?

While I was at The Salon I tried on a cute wig that was gray. I have always admired the color of my cousin Jean’s hair and only wish that I too will be blessed with the same color some day.

I don’t think I am quite ready yet but I didn’t think it looked too bad on me.
