First week of chemotherapy: Wig selection
Last week, besides beginning chemotherapy, I had my appointment for my wig fitting at Lucia’s Wigs with The Salon in Kenosha. Melissa Simon is the wig specialist there and she is such a kind and compassionate person. She is very knowledgeable about dealing with cancer patients and wigs. Melissa had me try on a few, and then took out a couple of catalogs to look through. I ended up picking one out of catalogs.
The wig I ordered came in this week so I went down to Kenosha on Friday to pick it up. Melissa was so nice to let me take home two of them so Mark and I could decide on which one we liked best. Both are in the video. What do you think?
I don’t think I am quite ready yet but I didn’t think it looked too bad on me.

Yep. Second wig is a keeper. Looks really cute. I love hearing and seeing you talk. I never get to anymore.:(
I still need to play around with the wigs a little more. In the video I noticed the first one I had on might have been positioned a little high. I was showing a lot of forehead. HaHa..
But yeah I think you’re right the second one looks better.
The wigs look cute and not too different from your own hair. You are too cute! trying on a gray wig sorta like my hair. My friend who also had breast cancer had white hair in her twenties and now wears it really short like that wig. She is so cute, and so are you. Wishing for you a quick recovery, and that the process is not too onerous. Seems like you are learning lots of new things, but through that learning process, I hope you dwell in the land of possibility and won’t stay too long in feeling physically tired.
xx, love, cousin jeannie
It was a lot of fun trying on all the different wigs available. They have come a long way. Jean I don’t know if you remember the wig my mom used to wear? It was back in the 70’s and for some reason she felt she needed a wig? Anyway it was not as cute as these. Her’s was kind of choppy and frosted, it just wasn’t her
Love the wig!!!!!
Hi Amy, My favorite is the second wig as well. You look good!! Makes me want to change my hair style!
Well Karen you could stop by Melissa and try on a few. She takes care of anyone not just cancer patients. So you could have a new style every other day. Lol..
Like the wigs, number two looks like you. Someday post the recipe for the ginger soup! Glad things are going well for you
Zoey & Nadine are so cute – Girl Power!! Love it. And the soup looked good. Most importantly, one week down – yea!

I like reading your blog Amy. Glad you’re still feeling well. Hope it continues. I also think wig 2 is the cutest.
Yep number 2 is the winner that’s what I went with.
Yes the 2nd one is definitely mod reminds me of Twiggy or Mia Farrow . Oh Oh just traveled through a time machine to the 70’s .
I did end up with going with number two. I only wish I could look as cute as Mia Farrow.
