Racine, Wisconsin — A Red Jewel Crabapple tree (Malus x ‘Red Jewel’) covered with hoar frost on a cold Wisconsin morning. This crabapple tree is one of a pair planted as part of the City of Racine’s Street Tree Planting program.

Butterflies — including many Red Admirals, a Question Mark, and a Monarch Butterfly — are seen nectaring at the fresh blossoms of the same Red Jewel Crabapple tree on May 3, 2012.
