Marble & Granite Sources

Kenosha, Wisconsin

When Kenosha custom countertop maker Marble & Granite Sources contacted me in 2013, the company already had a website. Unfortunately, it listed their previous location in Gurnee, Illinois. Also, their website was created entirely in Flash — and while Flash was trendy in its day, it is difficult to update, performs poorly with search engines, and does not show up at all in iPhones or iPads.

In planning any website, I always ask the owner to consider the many ways a website can be useful to visitors. For example, on this redesign, Gina Davenport wanted the website to serve as a reference resource, showing the various countertop edge styles that are available, and also the marble, granite, and engineered stone companies in the region who supply their raw materials.

Then Gina and Ryan Davenport started sending me photos of their completed work, and I knew the pictures would say more than words ever could about the beautiful stone countertops they fabricate and install.

Wanting to showcase as many of them as possible, I did some extensive research to find a photo gallery solution that would allow easy, responsive browsing of their photos on laptops, tablets, or phones.

The resulting custom countertop photo gallery is the centerpiece of their redesigned website.
