Hair & Company

Racine, Wisconsin

Racine salon owner Scott Jung is a capable, hands-on guy in many respects — including his website. He had his domain name registered long before we built the first Hair & Company website in 2010. Over the next 6 years, Scott updated his website regularly, adding new pages, images, copy, and online booking as his business moved forward.

But web design also moved forward in those 6 years, and web use jumped to smartphones — so we contacted Scott and recommended a modern, responsive redesign. He agreed that it was time.

A big recent development in Scott’s business was his acquisition of a tanning salon. It’s a completely separate spa in the same building as his hair salon, and Scott has added a state-of-the art VersaSpa Pro sunless tanning booth as well as the full VersaSpa product line.

Obviously, Scott wanted to promote the new tanning salon just as prominently as his hair salon, so we created a design which separates the two salons using a teal and amber color scheme — but also integrates them using informational modules and navigation.

Significant SEO research was done to optimize terms and topics for search engine performance, and this intelligence was then employed throughout the new website.

More importantly, the site is now fully mobile-responsive. Its layout adjusts to smartphones and tablets, and it makes extensive use of simple buttons to book appointments online — or to call the salon directly when the site is viewed on a smartphone. Since the majority of web use now happens on mobile devices, having a responsive website is vital.

Best of all, the new Hair & Company website is built in Divi by Elegant Themes — an astounding WordPress site-builder which provides an easy, modular system for quickly assembling great-looking web pages. With this new website up and running, Scott will have more control than ever over its content as his business continues to grow.
