I feel like things are starting to get back to normal.

The last treatment of chemo really affected my digestive tract and I think I finally got my system working the way it should. My next treatment is the last of A/C, then I move onto the 12 weeks of Taxol. I am excited to be done with the A/C and ready to move forward.

I wasn’t sure what I was going to do when my hair started coming out. I thought that maybe Mark and I could tackle it on our own with a pair of clippers borrowed from my sister Marianne. Then last week I received a phone call from my sister Kim who works as a nail technician at a salon.

First week of chemotherapy: Wig selection

First week of chemotherapy: Wig selection

Last week, besides beginning chemotherapy, I had my appointment for my wig fitting at Lucia’s Wigs with The Salon in Kenosha. Melissa Simon is the wig specialist there and she is such a kind and compassionate person. She is very knowledgeable about dealing with cancer patients and wigs. Melissa had me try on a few, and then took out a couple of catalogs to look through. I ended up picking one out of catalogs.

Airline miles rescued with 5-day pizza diet

This is the last of the pizza, I think — unless there are still more zip-top bags of it crammed into the back of the vegetable crisper. I have been eating pizza for breakfast, lunch, and dinner since Thursday night, as a way of maintaining airline miles. We may be...

Tornado in Kenosha, Wisconsin: January 7, 2008

As people all over the world have heard, there was some frightening tornado activity in Kenosha, just a few short miles from here, on the afternoon of January 7. I received a lot of calls and emails from co-workers, friends, and family, but happily I had nothing to...

Kenosha HarborMarket: Farmer’s market on the lakefront

Last Saturday — and then again today — we visited the Kenosha's HarborMarket. My dad used to take me to Kenosha's Farmer's Markets when I was a kid. He made the best dill pickles I have ever tasted. We would go to the grocery store to get the vinegar, the salt, the...
